My family has been camping at Thousand Trails just about my entire life. My first memories are with my grandparents, just the 3 of us. Not much has changed in the member campground, but the community of Sunriver has become quite a vacation destination.
Our family will spend a few weeks here each year, staying in the nearby campground and driving into Sunriver for all the fun we can afford! We always hit the miles of bike trails that wind through community, stopping for breaks along the Deschutes River, marina, stables and any wildlife we’re lucky enough to spot!
Last summer we spent Joey’s 10th birthday at the newer community pool, The Sharc! It’s a spendy day at the pool, especially if you hit the poolside bar. I think it was about $50 per person, but it was a blast! They have a lazy river and 2 water slides. This was our family’s favorite day of our summer trip!
In the end of July, Sunriver has a nighttime hot air balloon festival behind the lodge. We all kept waiting for them to take off, but eventually figured out it was just a night glow festival. (Lol) With the sun setting on the Cascades it was a beautiful summer night.
We will spend a few weeks here again this year, we can’t wait…
