I spotted this fun little book tag on Chelsea’s Blog and knew I wanted to give it a shot! I hope you will too! Here goes..
📚What is the longest amount of time you can comfortably go without picking up a book?
This can vary with where I am in my life. Currently I would say I am very attached to books and that’s been constant over the last five years, since I finished school. Also being a preschool teacher and parent I read to children every day. So between my books and children’s books I would say I don’t go more than a few hours.
📚How many books do you carry on your person or Ebook at any one time?
Ryan likes to tease me about this all the time. I will always have one book with me, but if I am nearing the ending I will bring the next read with me. You just never know when you could get stuck in traffic or have to wait somewhere and I never want to be caught with time to kill without my book! Are you this way too? Do people make fun of you for it?
If I am going camping for the weekend, I bring several. Its the worst starting a new book and not liking it, and your stuck with it.
📚Do you keep every book you buy/receive or are happy to pass them on to make more space?
I have a children’s library from board books all the way up to chapter books and some YA titles. I will keep some reference books for myself but love to pass along a great read to someone I know. The problem is, I don’t know anyone that enjoys reading or that has the time to. I work with mostly young families that are super busy raising families.
📚How long do you spend in a bookstore on a typical visit?
If given the day, I will spend the entire day at a Barnes and Noble and I will occupy one of those comfy chairs for the entire day. I will pack a bunch of books in it when I need to run to the bathroom or get a fresh cup of coffee. lol
Usually though, I would say my typical visit lasts 2-3 hours.
📚How much time each day do you spend reading?
I would say between my current read, blogs, children’s books and magazines, I spend about 4 hours a day reading, possibly more. I also will listen to audio books while I am doing something on my own such as watering the garden or running errands in the car.
📚How many books would you estimate that you own(including ebooks)?
Oh geez, this is a hard one. Most of the books we own are children’s. But we have books stored in every room of our home minus the bathroom and kitchen. I am guessing 1500? Books are a big deal at our house.
📚How often do you bring up books in conversation?
Ryan and I will talk about books, blogs, magazine or newspaper articles every morning over coffee. I love our talks over what we are reading.
📚What is the longest book you’ve finished reading?
I am not sure what that would be. The books that come to mind are The Goldfinch by Donna Tart or one of the Penn Cage series books by Greg Iles. I think they are all around 800 pages, but The Goldfinch was a slow read. I liked the writing style but it was hard to finish.
📚What is a book you struggled to finish but didn’t DNF?
For this one I will say the same book as the above question, The Goldfinch. It was just not my style.
📚What are your 3 main book goals for 2018?
I have my Goodreads goal of 52 books for the year, I also want to get my children reading more and I want to expose the children in our preschool to lots of books and fictional characters.
📚Have you ever had the privilege of converting someone into a reader?
YES! I have taught a few of my children to read, and also passed on the love of books to one of my younger cousins which was really rewarding to see.
I also have had some preschoolers memorize some of the regular books we read here and have went home and read them to mom and dad. They sent me a video of them asking Where did you learn to read that? and his reply was, Lana taught me. A very cool moment..That made me cry. 🙂
📚Describe what books mean to you in 5 words.
Hope! Enrichment! Discovery! Adventure! Escape!
Thanks for reading, like always I love sharing my love of books with you. I hope you participate and link to me so we can discuss it! Have a great night!
