1st Outdoor Concert of the Summer

Dinner and drinks 🍻

We started our weekend off with a pint of Modern Times, Avalon IPA and shared a Malaysian curry plate for dinner at the Beergarden. They have some great food carts lots to choose from. Then we were on our way to the Cuthbert for our first of 3 outdoor concerts this summer.

Cuthbert Amphitheater

The Cuthbert sits right along the Willamette River and next Autzen Stadium. It holds 5,000 people and has a great family atmosphere with lots of open lawn seating.

We got in the gates early and found our way down to the 7th row. We both wanted to be a bit closer than last year.

It is so fun watching all the different people find their way into their seats. It’s a great people watching event! Lots of the tie dye, lots of skin, lots of hippies…

Michael Franti

It was a teensy bit of a struggle for Ryan and I to stay up this late. Anyone that knows us or reads our blog, you know we are not night owls. But once in a while, it sure is fun!

Michael Franti is such a talent, and inspiration for us, with his message of peace and acceptance for EVERYONE. Whenever I listen to him talk about his music, family, or world views he makes me want to be a better person.

He always performs barefoot, jumping around through the audience.  A great entertainer, he’s just a cool(hippie) dude!😎

Not a bad night out for the first week of summer. Next outdoor concert is Satin Love Orchestra(disco) July 15. Ryan just can’t wait to listen to some disco with me!😳

What are your musical interests? Do you have any outdoor concerts planned this summer?

Have a great Saturday everyone!

  1. This was so much fun! I liked that song- will have to listen to the whole thing! I like my music the way I like my books – all kinds of variety! My parents listened to beach music and music from the 50s and 60s, so I love it too, and listen to just about everything from then on! No concerts planned for this summer yet though. I hope you are having a great weekend, Lana!

    • Thank you! It was a fun night out! I love all kinds of music too along with books. Lots of variety! Speaking of…My Hilderbrand book should arrive today! Can’t wait to sit down with it tonight on my patio! Have a great Saturday! ☀️

  2. That sounds amazing. Ive only see Mjchael Franti once, but loved his energy. The kids and I play his one song, Life is Better with you, for mothers day every year!

  3. Sounds amazing! We have a festival thing coming up where local bands play blues and reggae music. Isnt really my thing but last year when we went, it was really fun! Im more of a rock fan myself but hey I have found my music taste to change and develop as of lately 🙂 Look forward to see what other activities you’ll get up to this summer 🙂

    • That sounds like a blast! We love both blues and reggae! It’s fun to try something a bit different sometimes. Thanks for checking out our post! ☀️

  4. Wow, that looks like it was a great time, last year I went to a few out door music events, one in the city of Cincinnati and one out in the country.
I don’t plan to many of our activity’s so I don’t know if I will be attending any this year.

  5. Franti is great. Saw him and John Paul Jones from Zep sat in and played mando with him. Got the stub somewhere. Will have to find it and post. 🙂 Cheers!
