My afternoon off!

Taking a break from preschool

Occasionally Ryan and I will have a slow day at preschool and we are able to manage the group solo. So we take turns getting out the house enjoying our own time, reclaiming our sanity!🤪

Some weeks it get pretty long working from home. Yesterday I woke up and realized I hadn’t left the house since Sunday! So once lunch was over Ryan let me get a break and I headed into to town like it was my first time! 🤩

Discovering a used bookstore

Seems like my first stop is always the bookstore or library. I didn’t stay at the bookstore long and ended up stumbling across a used bookstore five minutes from my house! I never know what to expect when you walk into a used bookstore for the first time. But this one was great!

My books that I left with

I wondered around for quite a while looking over different genre, some super hero collectables, just taking it all in. Sometimes when I wander through such a quiet place of business I ask myself, why am I doing preschool when running a bookstore seems so quiet and peaceful! 🤣

I found several titles that I wanted to read and here is what I parted with…(all in amazing shape too!)

  • The Night Circus by Erin Morganstern( I am almost positive this book hasn’t even been read yet!)
  • The Alchemyst by Nicholas Flamel
  • Paper Towns by John Green
  • A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick
  • The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw
  • Camino Island by John Grisham

I can’t wait to go back again with some of my books to trade. For a while now I’ve just been giving my titles away once I’ve read them. It feels like such a waste when I don’t even really have anyone that  will actually read them.

Often I will leave them at a campground in the lodge hoping someone else will stumble on my good books and enjoy them.

What about you?

What has been some of your book finds lately? Do you have a fave used bookstore you often shop at? Have you enjoyed any of these titles? I’d love to hear your thoughts…

Currently I am about halfway through Song of Achilles and I am absolutely in love with it! 💗💗💗💗💗

  1. My sister and daughter and I would trade books and read them, usually stuff my daughter would read, teenage stuff. My daughter is still reading, I think my sister, too. I’m too busy learning how to garden and enjoying 50 million other things. I’m sure I haven’t given it up forever.

    • That’s really awesome! I don’t have any siblings or parents that read… I think I was adopted. I’m the only nerd in my family. 🤣

  2. Of course I love this post! Glad you could get away today and look at books! And guess what? I reviewed a book by the author of The Reliable Wife last weekend! And I really enjoyed TRW and hope you do, too! Happy weekend, Lana! 💗

    • Awe… thank you Jennifer! It was nice! I’ve been a little stressed this week so it was much needed! Yay! I am excited to read it! ❤️ happy weekend to you too! 😊

  3. I just finished Camino Island. It was a gift. I’ve heard good things about Paper Towns. I’m reading Persons Unknown right now. I started A Gentleman in Moscow but haven’t been able to finish it. Happy reading

      • John Grisham is one of my all time favorites. It’s a heist story. I wrote a review about it where I said I thought it was a thank you from Grisham to his readers and a tribute to indie bookstore owners. It’s not exactly a page turner

      • I couldn’t find the review… but thanks for sharing your thoughts with me. Some of his books are amazing and some are just eh- I enjoyed Rooster Bar, that’s the last one I read from Grisham. 😁
