The Perfect Couple

The Perfect Couple

Elin Hilderbrand

It’s Nantucket wedding season, also known as summer– the sight of a bride racing down Main Street is as common as the sun setting at Madaket Beach. The Otis-Winbury wedding promises to be an event to remember: the groom’s wealthy parents have spared no expense to host a lavish affair at their oceanfront estate. But it’s going to be memorable for all the wrong reasons after tragedy strikes: a body is discovered in Nantucket Harbor just hours before the ceremony– and everyone in the wedding party is suddenly a suspect.

As Chief of Police Ed Kapenash interviews the bride, the groom, the groom’s famous-novelist mother, and even a member of his own family, he discovers that every wedding is a minefield–and no couple is perfect. Featuring beloved characters from The Castaways, Beautiful Day, and A Summer Affair, The Perfect Couple proves once again that Elin Hildrebrand is the queen of the summer beach read.

I was so excited to read this book when it was released as I always enjoy Hilderbrand’s beachy books on Nantucket! I think I love reading about lives on Nantucket as much as I enjoy her writing.

This story so different than any of Hilderbrand’s other books, it begins with the maid of honor’s body being discovered in the harbor on the morning of the wedding, creating a possible murder mystery and disrupting everyone’s plans for the perfect wedding.

Many of the same characters from previous books are tied into this story, so if you have read her previous books, you will enjoy the familiar characters like I did!

I couldn’t figure out who was involved and I guessed wrong up until the last chapter of the book, which made it fun to keep me guessing. I won’t give anything away, but I did like the ending…😉

There are many affairs that take place in this story, all within the wedding party and guests which for me, began to be a bit far fetched. But I will still give this book 🔥🔥🔥🔥 for succeeding as a fun, light summer read!

  1. Your review caught my attention. Maybe I could read it when we are camping at the coast. Like on those mornings when dad goes fishing.
