4W Wednesday’s!

What is WWWW….?

It’s a weekly post where I recap my week in books each Wednesday. I cover books that I’ve been reading, plan to read and what we’ve been reading to our preschool, usually highlighting one of my favorites..

What have I been reading this past week?

  • This has been a good week for reading for me. I’ve just finished Sounder by William H Armstrong(as part of my goal to read all the Newbery winners), Sounder won the award in 1970. I will probably review this book Thursday or Friday!
  • I also read another Newbery winner(1994) earlier in the week, The Giver by Lois Lowry.
  • I also read Camino Island by John Grisham, my review will post Thursday. Overall it was a enjoyable heist story with a bookstore twist to it.

What am I reading right now?

I am currently reading Hello, Universe by Erin Entrada Kelly( 2018 Newbery winner). So far I am really enjoying this cute story about a shy eleven year old boy named Virgil and a stubborn girl named Valencia. They don’t know each other yet but I’m pretty sure thats about to change. I’m excited to find out more..

What do I plan to read next?

That is a good question… I want to bust through the Newbery books I picked up over the weekend, but I also want to keep up with my own reading! As of right now I am thinking of reading The One and Only Ivan( 2013 Newbery winner) by Katherine Applegate.

What have we been reading at story time?

Below is a list of the days of the week in preschool story time. I love my picture books just as much as my own books… And my favorite book for this week that the kids love is Be Who You Are! by Todd Parr. The message of the story is in the title,

Speak your own language. Learn in your own way. Be proud of where your from. Be your own family.

The children in our preschool love this simple message! In fact they know the words by heart… 💗

In fact it’s a great message at any age… 🤔

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone! Happy reading!

  1. Reading all the Newberry winners. Cool idea! I remember reading The Giver, back when our oldest was in school. I can’t remember if I read the whole series or not, but I remember liking The Giver.

I had an idea once that I would read all of the Science Fiction Grandmasters. It was such a daunting task that I never started. 😀 At least not yet.

    • Thanks! I hope I can complete it! Some of these books I do remember reading to my adult children when they were little. We’ll see how it goes…
SciFi grandmasters? That sounds like it would be quite the challenge… 😊

  2. Love this post, Lana! I am looking for it each week! I love that message for your preschoolers- you are right, important at any age! I have The One and Only Ivan on audio I think. I need to give it a listen! You are doing great with your Newbery challenge!
