The 10 Things Money Can’t Buy

In other words, this is a top 10 list of the greatest passions in our life that do not require money( or at least not much).

Ryan and I were sitting in our comfy chairs Monday evening brainstorming a top 10 list. We had some great ideas but they were all just things we loved, and I wasn’t sure anyone would appreciate them quite like we do.

Camping lists…?  We’ve done that!

Wildlife? Outdoors?… why we love our trailer?  No…

Then I realized all the things we were naming off were things that weren’t material things. It wasn’t 5 Star vacations or dinners out. It’s the simple things in life that make us happy.

I thought, hey, this might be a good list.

So here is what we came up with…

  • 💗 LoveCB8EBD4E-B734-48C3-B433-40635A66ACBF

We all know this is one is universally true.💕

  • Health

We just have this one body, and one life to live. We need to take good care of our bodies and not take for granted our health. It can all change in a day.

  • Time

This is a trickier one, you can’t specifically buy time, but you can hire an employee, a babysitter, or have a cleaning lady take away some of your burden. Technically these things do free up your time… 🤔

But you get the picture, don’t waste time not pursuing the things in life that are important to you.

  • Memories

I love memories of fun trips or new places we’ve been, but if I really think of my best memories… it’s about the people I’ve spent my time with.

  • Wisdom

If only we could buy wisdom! I wish I could know what I know now, when I was 18. Or to have my parents’ insight and perspective on life. It’s so priceless!

  • Outdoors

Whether it’s the beach, the mountains or just our dinky, little backyard, I always feel better outside.

  • Reading 08449CF8-1EEC-4A8C-95E1-DF23CB2C2E6D

I thought of lumping this under hobbies but it’s just too important to me. Even if I couldn’t buy books at Barnes & Noble I could still go to the library, and I will read until the day I die(I hope).

  • Family

Ryan and I do not have many close family members, but family is so important. Even if you don’t see each other often, if one of us had an emergency our family would be there for us, and us for them. I also include our pets under this category, they are the best!

  • Hobbies

Ryan loves surfing, football and camping, those are his 3 favorite things aside from our children(of course). Camping is number one for me, wildlife, photography and reading are my things. Just be passionate about whatever your thing is and enjoy it!

  • Education/knowledge

I know not all education is free, but I do believe college is a priceless experience that everyone should have access to. I hope I continue to learn new things until the day I die! Ryan and I love looking up new things or sharing something we read in a book.

I hope you all enjoyed this post. It made for a good conversation for Ryan and I. We love lists! I’d love to hear your thoughts on our list. What would be different for your list?

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Oh my goodness, I loved this post so much. It literally just made me smile the entire time I was reading it. I think my boyfriend (whose name also happens to be Ryan) have found kindred spirits as we too are happiest when camping, in our RV or hiking. Your lists mirrors our thoughts and conversations exactly. Thank you so much for sharing!

    • What a sweet and thoughtful comment! 💗 you’ve made my morning! Thank you for sharing that with me.. 😍 I’m glad you liked it! ☀️

  2. I enjoyed your list and agree with all of them, except that I don’t surf anymore. We love the outdoors. I just can sit and look at all the wonders around me and be totally happy. A smile is also something that is free and a very good thing to share.
