First Line Friday

Welcome to First Line Friday hosted by Hoarding Books!

This morning the book I am reading along the Audible is The B1BF0886-64C7-4B72-BCF3-EDCDC681F132President’s Missing by Bill Clinton and James Patterson. This is narrated by Dennis Quaid. Here are the first few lines…

Thursday, May 10

”The House select committee will come to order…”

The sharks are circling, their nostrils are twitching at the scent of blood. Thirteen of them, to be exact, eight from the opposition party and five from mine, sharks against who I’ve been preparing defenses with lawyers and advisors.

I am about halfway through this book and as interesting as the storyline is, it also terrifies me. Very suspenseful story, hopefully nothing that could actually ever happen.

Dennis Quaid’s voice on be Audible is music to my ears. Here is the synopsis…

The president disappears.

The world is in shock.

But the reason he’s missing is much worse than anyone can imagine.

With details only a president could know, and the kind of suspense only James Patterson can deliver.

Have you read this book yet? What are you currently reading? Open up the book you are reading and share with me the first line of your book! 😊

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Great post!! I must admit that I love James Patterson, but I am not a fan of Clinton so I wasn’t sure about buying the book. Have you read any of The Women’s Murder Club? The Women’s Murder Club is an amazing series and I have read all of them!!! Now I have to wait until April for the 18th book, which feels like an eternity!
It is great to know you are enjoying this book and more than likely I am going to feel the overwhelming urge to read it!! All James Patterson’s book so far have been incredible and hard to put down!

    • Thank you! I have not read any from that series! It sounds interesting though, I will go look it up! Yes, this is definitely a hard-to-put-down Patterson read!

  2. I’m going to the library in an hour, so I’m not reading anything at the moment. I finished Steampunk Fairy Tales last night. Here is the first lines to the first story. “Old Man Streusel knew about the magic in his toy shop. It whispered in his ears and sent dancing breezes to tickle his nose even when the doors and windows were closed.”

  3. Great Post. I am not a fan of James Patterson’s style of writing and his style kept intruding in this book. I am glad I am not the only one who found this book terrifying.
” The sun shone brightly, the air felt fresh and I was bursting with enthusiasm” is the first line in the book Vet on a Mission by Gillian Hick.

    • It has freaked me out all week as I’ve listened to a few chapters at a time when I can sneak them in… I’ve never really got into Patterson books either. But I do like this one.

  4. Hey Lana! Great first line! I am so intrigued and thanks to you I bought the audio of this one earlier this week! Dennis Quaid! I shared lines from Vox over on my blog, so I’ll share another book I’m currently reading here. This is from Where the Crawdads Sing (I love it! Takes place in NC!)

“Marsh is not swamp. Marsh is a space of light, where grass grows in water, and water flows into the sky. Slow-moving creeks wander, carrying the orb of the sun with them to the sea, and long-legged birds lift with unexpected grace—as though not built to fly—against the roar of a thousand snow geese.”

    Happy Friday! ♥️
