Perfect Picture Book Friday, FriYAY!

10 Rockin’ Back to School picture books to wrap up the end of summer!

Whether your lil ones are going into preschool, kindergarten or 1st grade… these stories all share in the excitement that is “back to school” time!

School clothes, backpacks and bus routes…

New friends, teacher, and classroom….

I picked these 10 to share and I recommend them all to your family.

Here they are…

  • The Pout-Pout Fish Goes to School by Deborah Diesen. All the children in my program have enjoyed Pout Pout Fish, and I think most kids will be able to relate to Pout Pout’s fears of school.50B8788B-60FF-4D8B-982F-8E9F8F954DB1
  • On the First Day of Kindergarten by Tish Rabe. Fun for all kids heading off to kinder.

  1. I love Ming Goes to School. Such sensitive artwork and such a gentle, supportive message. My favorite book like this is Lisa Papp’s Madeline Finn and the Library Dog. It’s adorable!

  2. Ah, back to school picture books! I still remember reading (and rereading) my favorite back to school book in the early 90s. A shy girl is nervous about leaving her mother and sad when another kid gets paint on her favorite bear sweater, but is smiling by the time her mother picks her up. I was a painfully shy child, so the book was incredible reassuring. I think it had a generic name like “The First Day of School,” so I’ve never been able to find it. I think it’s wonderful that authors are putting the effort into introducing kids to the newness of school…it can be scary, and books are powerful. 🙂

    • I agree, they are powerful! I remember the ones I liked as a little girl too! That sounds like a cute story too… ❤️
