4W Wednesday

Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone has had the best week so far, with plenty of time set aside for a good book!

Here is what I’ve been up to this past week with 4W!

What is 4w?

It is a weekly post where I recap my week in books! It originally was a WWW Wednesday Post that I’ve tweaked to make my own. I cover books that I’ve been reading, plan to read and What I’ve been reading with our preschool, usually highlighting my favorite picture book each week.

I am just getting started on a few books…

  • Scythe by Neal Shusterman
  • The Midwife’s Apprentice by Karen Cushman(1996 Newbery winner)

I haven’t even gotten past the first chapter in these but I am excited to dig in..

  • The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw, and you can find my review here
  • Secret of the Andes by Ann Nolan Clark(Newbery 1953)

Both of these books were great stories, but I was really mostly surprised by The Wicked Deep. This book had an eerie, wicked feel but it was a comfortable read, I was never too frightened to read in bed at night! It is a fun YA read! Have you read it?

Since I am just starting the two I am on, I doubt I will get through these three, but what the heck… these are up next…

  • Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
  • A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park
  • The Door in the Wall(Newbery 1950) by Marguerite de Angeli

This week and next week we are focusing on going back to school. I have several children that will be either starting kinder or elementary school so that is our theme.

Picking a favorite this week is so hard, I love them all. For me personally, I love the story of …The Dot, One Family, and All Are Welcome.

What are you reading this week? Thanks for stopping by…Happy reading friends!

  1. Of course I can’t wait to hear what you think about Scythe and the other book! And also A Long Walk to Water sounds really interesting. I’m reading The Night Olivia Fell along with a few other reads and absolutely loving it! Happy Wednesday, Lana! ♥️ xo

  2. Ooooo you’re reading Scythe!! I hope you enjoy it! I hope you enjoy Elinor Oliphant as well, I read it at the start of the year and it was excellent! I’m planning to read The Wicked Deep at some point as well, it sounds like a great read!

  3. The author of “The Dot” Peter Reynolds lives near me, he has a great children’s bookstore in his town and his studio is above the local movie theater, across from his store!! I loved that you picked his book!!

    • Oh wow! That’s really interesting, it’s an adorable and inspiring story! We will be reading it today! ❤️Thanks so much for sharing that!

    • I’ve been finding lately, the more I’m reading and reading book blogs…the bigger my “to be read” list becomes! 😍

  4. I just ordered The Dot for the grandchildren for me to read to them. I ordered off your page too. How do I get one of those Amazon things on my page? I order so much from them.

    • Awe… yay! How fun! Thank you! I hope you love the book! Let me find the link and I will send it to you.. it’s fairly easy to sign up for that account but took me a while to figure out copying and pasting the html link.. I order everything from Amazon too! It’s so easy and comes so quick! Plus lots of things are cheaper..

    • The Dot book is probably best for 3-5 yr olds.. but sweet story to have for grandbabies to inspire young artists!💗

  5. Thank you for stopping by my blog, or else I may not have found yours! Happy I found it! Currently reading “The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate,” Ella Enchanted,” and “The Mysterious Benedict Society.”
