First Line is my favorite weekly post! Booklovers can share the first line or two of the book you are currently reading, just finished or just randomly grab one off your shelf…💗

Here I go…

Three luscious lemon tarts glistened up at Catherine. She reached her towel-wrapped hands into oven, ignoring the heat that enveloped her arms and pressed against her cheeks, and lifted the tray from the hearth. The tarts’ sunshine filling quivered, as if glad to be freed from the stone chamber.

I have heard really good reviews of this one. I just have not managed to start it yet. Here is the blurb from the back of the book…

Catherine May be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland and a favorite of the unmarried King, but her interests lie elsewhere. A talented baker, she wants to open a shop and create delectable pastries. But for her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for a woman who could be queen.

At a royal ball where Cath is expected to receive the King’s marriage proposal, she meets handsome and mysterious Jest. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the King and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into a secret courtship.

Cath is determined to choose her own destiny. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans.

What are you reading this Friday afternoon? Have you read this one yet or any of the Lunar Chronicles?

  1. Nice post! Omg I love the Lunar Chronicles, but Heartless was absolutely amazing. I hope you enjoy it!!

  2. “The great object of this book is to describe, in their own words so far as possible, the deepest spiritual experiences of the most famous Christians of all ages and times.” Deeper Experiences of Famous Christians, by James Gilchrist Lawson, originally published in 1911, recommended by Dallas Willard

  3. Happy Friday!

My first lines come from Hearts In Harmony by Beth Wiseman……

I had never been to an Englisch funeral before today. I’ve only been to one funeral , when Uncle John died last year. But I’m only ten so maybe that’s why. This funeral was different from Uncle John’s. There were a lot of flowers inside the church and people singing.

Have an awesome weekend and happy reading!😊💕
