How to Survive on a Desert Island is one cool children’s book with tons of useful information! Useful that is, if you are ever faced with survival issues! I could see my 11 year old son finding this book pretty interesting. He loves to play survival video games and watch Survivor so I can see how this topic might pique his interest!
The book starts off by asking what are your first three priorities, when you find yourself stranded. The answer is finding water, building a fire and making a shelter. Then it goes into basic detail on how to trap food, understanding the night sky, making a distress signal and first aid basics.
I wasn’t super impressed with the illustrations but I think the all the information more than makes up for it and would keep my son’s interest.
A few days ago my son(he is 11 yrs old) wanted to earn a sleepover, so I told him he could earn it with a book report on this title. He read it, and really enjoyed it! He was able to easily recall useful information and it clearly kept his interest. He said he would give it a 4.5 stars! 🌟
