~First Line Friday~

First Line is my favorite weekly post! Booklovers can share the first line or two of the book you are currently reading, just finished or just randomly grab one off your shelf…💗

This week my Friday First Line is inspired  by my latest book from BOTM, it just arrived in the mail this week.

Here you go…

Alicia Berenson’s Diary

July 14

I don’t know why I ‘m writing this.

That’s not true. Maybe I do know and just don’t want to admit it to myself. I don’t even know what to call it-this thing I’m writing. If feels a little pretentious to call it a diary. Its not like I have anything to say. Anne Frank kept a diary- not someone like me. Calling it a “journal” sound too academic, somehow. As if I should write in it every day, and I don’t want to- if it become a chore, I’ll never keep it up.

Title: The Silent Patient

Genre: Psychological Thriller

Author: Alex Michaelides

Pub Date: online it says, February 5, 2019. But I know that can’t be right since I already have it… so maybe January 5?

Promising to be the debut novel of the season. The Silent Patient is a shocking psychological thriller of a woman’s act of violence against her husband- and of the therapist obsessed with uncovering her motive… Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening her husband Gabriel returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face, and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety. The price of her art skyrockets, and she, the silent patient, is hidden away from the tabloids and spotlight at the Grove, a secure forensic unit in North London. Theo Faber is a criminal psychotherapist who has waited a long time for the opportunity to work with Alicia. His determination to get her to talk and unravel the mystery of why she shot her husband takes him down a twisting path into his own motivations–a search for the truth that threatens to consume him…

I’d love to hear your thoughts and read your First Line…Even if you don’t have time for much reading this holiday season, grab a book off your shelf and share a first line!

  1. Happy Friday!😉

My first lines come from Restaurant Weeks are Murder by Libby Klein…….

“I don’t care how good Dr. Oz says it is, I’m not eating vegan cheese.” Aunt Ginny took the last stuffed pheasant off the Fraser fir, wrapped it in tissue paper, and placed it in an old Woolworth’s hat box to store until next Christmas.

Have an awesome weekend and happy reading!💕

  2. Happy Friday! I’m reading This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab.

“The night Kate Harker decided to burn down the school chapel, she wasn’t angry or drunk. She was desperate.”

    Loving this book so far!
