Top 10 Tuesday~ Favorite Board Books

Last week I put together a list of graphic novels so I thought this week I might talk about my favorite board books!

Several of these books I have in hardbound and board format. For our preschool if the kids want to look at my hardbound and even the paperback favorites, I get a bit nervous. 2-4 year olds aren’t very gentle on books. For that reason, I love having many copies of the most popular favs!

Some of my older books have broken spines, teeth marks, rips and slobber damage. 20+ years of preschool is very hard on a children’s library.

If I had to pick one of these books to be my all time favorite it’d be Room on the Broom. Even though it’s great for Halloween, it’s read in our program 12 months of the year. The version they had on Netflix I love too!

Do you have any of these? What are your family favorites?

  1. We love Room on the Broom and We’re going on a Bear Hunt here. I’ve seen that Dia de los Muertos books pop up and it looks interesting!!
We adore the Shape Trilogy (Triangle, Square, Circle) by Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen, its wry in humour and my children adore them!!

    • I was just reading your post! I’ve seen that recently on my Scholastics order form… I’m definitely going to check it out now! I love his humor!

      • They are fantastic! If you like Klassen’s collaboration with Mac Barnett check out The Wolf, The Duck and the Mouse, it’s very odd but very funny with a dinner party scene in the Wolf’s tummy!!

      • I’m not familiar with that one, thank you! I will! Always love book recommendations!! 🤗🤗

    • It’s a great one. I think my hardbound version must be 25 years old, and I still love it just as much!

  2. Aw the Hungry Caterpillar was a favorite when I was a little girl. What a sweet memory. I also loved “Where the Wild Things Are” and still think about that book from time to time. I love seeing all these covers again! Awesome post. 🙏🏻

    • That is wonderful! Sadly, my boys are not big readers! Thanks for stopping by! My boys still at home are 9 and 11.

    • Thank you! I think I like Dia De los Muertos more than my preschoolers do. Lol I wish they did, the pages are so pretty! I just love it!

  3. I know both “We’re going on a bear hunt” and “The hungry caterpillar” of by heart I have read them that many times 😂 Room on the broom is definitely one of my personal favourites 😊
